Through net metering (Net-Billing), you can generate your own energy, which will be offset against your energy consumption, resulting in a significant reduction in electricity costs. Furthermore, for the energy fed into (surplus energy) fed into the grid, the self-consumer may be compensated!

What you should know about Net-Billing;

  1. Consumer Categories: Net billing applies to all consumer categories, including residential, commercial, farmers, local government entities, and Energy Communities.

  2. Real-Time Offsetting: Energy offsetting occurs in real time. Any surplus energy is fed into the grid and compensated for 20 years based on the wholesale market price.

  3. Special Programs: A special program called “Residential Photovoltaics” has been established for the installation of photovoltaic systems up to 10.8 kW using synchronous or virtual synchronous net metering exclusively for residential consumers.

  4. Tax Obligations: Residential self-consumers are not considered business operators and are not subject to tax obligations for the sale of the energy they generate.

  5. Special Cases for Islands: On non-interconnected islands, due to the lack of an organized market, surplus energy is paid for at a special purchase price published by DAPEP.

  6. Collective Self-Consumption: Collective self-consumption is provided for at the building level through the application of virtual net-billing. At least two self-consumers located in the same building may jointly participate in activities and arrange for the allocation of the energy produced by their stations, subject to applicable grid fees and other relevant charges, fees, contributions, and taxes. In the case of virtual simultaneous net metering, under the collective self-consumption model, common-area consumption in buildings may also be included.

  7. Power of Generation Stations: In the case of net-billing as well as zero feed-in, the capacity of each installed power generation station may be up to 100% of the agreed consumption capacity (in kVA). In the case of virtual net-billing, the capacity of each installed generation station may be up to 100% of the total installed capacity of all offsets.

  8. Management of Generation Stations: The self-consumer’s generation station may be owned by the self-consumer or by a third party, or it may be managed by a third party for installation, operation, metering, and maintenance, under the self-consumer’s instructions. In this case, the third party is not considered a self-consumer. If the station is installed by a third party, the financial proceeds from surplus energy for simultaneous or virtual simultaneous netting, to the extent that they are compensated, are attributed exclusively to the self-consumer.

  9. Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): The self-consumer or the third party that owns the power plant may enter into bilateral power purchase agreements (PPAs) for surplus energy in cases of synchronized netting that is paid for by the market. Similarly, the Supplier or the Aggregator may guarantee a fixed selling price for surplus energy.

Collective Self-Consumption and Virtual Net-Metering

​The law provides for collective self-consumption at the building level through the application of virtual net-metering. At least two self-consumers in the same building may participate in these activities and arrange for the allocation of the energy produced, subject to grid fees and other relevant charges.


Self-Consumption without Feed-In (Zero Feed-In)


The offsetting of energy generated by the power plant against the electricity consumed at the end user’s supply point is carried out without feeding energy into the grid or the system.


Installation of Photovoltaic Systems

Photovoltaic systems can be installed:

 

  • On buildings (rooftops or roofs)

  • On patio/balcony canopies

  • On pergolas

  • On building facades and awnings

  • In auxiliary areas such as storage rooms and parking lots

  • On the ground and on solar tracking systems

Take advantage of the “Energy Storage Systems for Businesses” government subsidy, which is currently in effect and applies to all businesses.

 

  • The “Energy Storage Systems for Businesses” program provides subsidies of up to 50%, starting at 30%, for battery installation. The subsidy depends on the size of the company, with small businesses receiving the most support.

 

  • At the same time, there is a maximum subsidy limit for the battery. Through the program, beneficiaries are also eligible for funding to cover ancillary costs. These include the technical study as well as the cost of connecting to the grid.
